One of the most enjoyable parts of being Florida Porsche dealers is having drivers turn to us for advice about automotive subjects. At the start of a new season, many drivers tend to ask us what they can do to make their tires last as long as possible. With October being Fall Car Care Month, we thought it would be a good idea to share some tips to prolong the life of your tires.

The Car Care Council is behind Fall Car Care Month. The council recommends that drivers have their tires checked during Fall Car Care Month along with doing a few other things like having their brakes inspected. When you have your tires checked out regularly, our factory-trained technicians will be able to identify issues early on and fix them before they shorten a tire’s lifespan.

Just like you should make an appointment to bring your car into our Porsche service center near Fernandina Beach, FL to have your tires inspected, you should also bring your vehicle in whenever your tires are due for a rotation. Rotating your tires every 5,000 – 8,000 miles will help them wear evenly and preserve their working life.

You should have your wheels balanced when you get your tires rotated. Balancing your wheels will ensure they spin in a perfect circle like they’re meant to. When your wheels spin properly, it will prevent your tires from experiencing uneven wear due to unbalanced wheels.

Even if your vehicle isn’t pulling to the right or left, you should still check your alignment every six months. If you hit something like a pothole, you should have your alignment checked sooner. When your wheels are aligned, it’s more likely your tires will wear evenly.
