You don’t have to sacrifice style, luxury, or performance if you’re looking for an eco-friendly vehicle. Many Porsche cars will soon be all-electric, and one you’ll be able to get in the near future is the Porsche Taycan.
Power and Performance
Who says an electric vehicle can’t be powerful? Certainly not Porsche.
The base Porsche Taycan comes with an electric motor and a 79-kWh lithium-ion battery that combine to produce 402 horsepower and 254 lb.-ft. of torque. There are also quite a few other powertrain options, including one that has two electric motors and a 93-kWh battery that generate up to 750 horsepower and 774 lb.-ft. of torque.
A two-speed automatic transmission is standard, and while the base trim comes with rear-wheel drive, all others get all-wheel drive. The Porsche Taycan has excellent acceleration, and the base model goes from zero to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. The most potent powertrain will get you from zero to 60 mph in less than three seconds.
Driving Range and Charging Time
The Porsche Taycan gets a combined 79 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) in both the city and on the highway. The base model can go up to 200 miles when its standard battery is fully charged. A bigger battery increases that to 225 miles.
With a 240-volt household-style power outlet, you can get your car completely charged in no more than 10.5 hours. The same is true for a Level 2 charging station. With Level 3 charging, you can get up to an 80-percent charge in about an hour and a half. That will be trimmed to around 23 minutes using a 270-kilowatt station.
